ARTIST

Since my childhood, I've been scattered through the culture of Louisiana. Pirogue rides; wildlife, and Cajun experiences filled my being along with my vivid imagination for color and design. The endless multitude of mediums, ideas, materials, and tools left me focused on the process and texture. Dancing through subconsciously creating art to give to my people, a part of me, of my heart and soul, of this southern land to forever hold. My mission is to create chaos and solve problems. To take a creative joyride dancing with my mind and artist hands.

The beginning of my process was the collection of leaves from bamboo, banana, sugarcane, and oak. Then I cut those leaves into tiny pieces and had a pulp boil on my porch, getting them ready to implant this southern love into handmade paper. Embedded are these organic fibers that were found by the bayou, along with abaca, flax, and cotton mixed with pigments to make vivid colors. I dissected flowers and added whatever I could find to make these pulp paintings come alive. The imagery was made using etched metal plates, carved linoleum blocks, Chine-collé, silk screening, and stamping. For the final touch I drew with my sewing machine and a variety of mark making tools to reach the end of this "Elegant Discombobulation" to bring to you.
